Amey plans EfW facility Cambridgeshire
Cambridgeshire residents have been asked to have their say on a new £200m Energy from Waste (EfW) facility.
Amey want to develop the EfW facility at Waterbeach their 400 acre Waste Management Park. The site already has waste technologies and processes in place including recycling, composting, landfill and a mechanical biological treatment (MBT).
Environmental Services Managing Director at Amey, Rob Edmondson, said: "We expect the new facility would handle around 230,000 tonnes of household and commercial waste a year, generating enough electricity to power the equivalent of 45,000 homes.
This would create jobs in the area in its construction and furthermore waste management jobs in its day to day operations.
Before Amey submits their planning application, they are holding an information session for the public (8-9 September 2017) at Waterbeach Waste Management Park.
