Maintenance Technician

Our client

A leading International Waste Management Company is looking for a Maintenance Technician

Main responsibilities:

  • Liaise closely with the Maintenance Manager and operations staff in all respects to ensure efficient and effective planned and reactive maintenance at all times
  • Assist in the administration of the clients CMMS (computerised Maintenance Management System) to ensure its accuracy at all times. To be used for all maintenance activities.
  • Assist in mechanical and electrical plant upgrades as assigned by the Maintenance Manager to ensure they are completed on time and effectively
  • Assist in the implementation and control of the company’s mechanical, electrical and general working safely policies.
  • Anticipate machine failures and make such changes or recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and minimise downtime
  • To be available for planned maintenance shutdown periods (reasonable notice will be given)
  • Carry out maintenance tasks diligently and in good time using appropriate methodology
  • Ensure good communications with colleagues
  • Attend all nominated training modules as necessary
  • Provide permits to work and control contractors as necessary
  • Travelling and working between sites as and when require

Essential Training / Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Served Electrical/Mechanical Engineers with the relevant City & Guilds/ONC or higher
  • Basic numeracy, literacy and computer skills are required along with the ability to work on your own initiative whilst also being part of a team
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary
  • Must be used to working in a fast moving operational environment and have excellent problem solving skill

Experience required:

  • You will have hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge along with PLC, inverter, instrumentation and control experience
  • Knowledge of various mechanical drive arrangements, including simplex, duplex, chain, belt, gearboxes and transmission equipment is required
  • You must hold a valid driving licence and have experience in a heavy industrial or waste environment.
  • Experience of driving fork lift trucks, MEWP, confined space and working at height is desirable but not essential.
