Technical Waste Sales Executive

Wallingford, Permanent, £25.5k + car + commission

The Role

To work as part of the sales team of the Technical Department to sell the full services of the department and also those of the wider company. This will include sourcing new business from cold calling, by the reaction to and conversion of sales leads from incoming enquiries and leads generated by other sales teams, and departments. Compliance with Health and Safety and Environmental Regulations is essential and therefore you must have a high level of technical knowledge.

Key duties
• To work tenaciously to locate and develop new business opportunities for the department.
• To ensure all enquiries are followed up quickly and efficiently
• To manage and gather information on all sales enquiries in a manner that fully satisfies the requirements of pre-acceptance.
• To undertake site visits to thoroughly assess jobs/projects with regard to safety and to obtain accurate chemical waste inventories for the preparation of accurately costed quotations to ensure appropriate return on sales.
• To receive, competently assess and price / prepare quotations for incoming enquiries via fax and email, including chemical analyses for landfill enquiries, ensuring compliance and appropriate ROS.
• To offer technical advice and assistance to customers, Technical Drivers, the Technical Administration Team and other departments.
• To carry out Duty of Care visits for new and existing customers at waste disposal facilities.
• To assess incoming enquiries and liaise with customers to ensure that sufficient information is obtained to raise quotations and to enable the generation of the necessary documentation, packing instructions and labels.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other internal sales teams to develop total waste management services.
• Ad-hoc projects relevant to the role and future development within the department
• Be aware of and reactive to responsibilities towards Health and Safety

Key Skills/experience

• At least 2 years experience working in the field of waste management sales – Hazardous waste experience would be an advantage
• A background in Chemistry would be ideal.
• A clean driving licence is required.
• Ability to work within a team and with own initiative.
• Competent in Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to research on the internet.
• Strong desire to succeed without compromising quality.
• Demonstrated ability in the provision of a high standard of Customer Service
• Ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Numerate, and confident with the written word.
• Confident communicator, professional telephone manner and ability to listen.
• Attention to accuracy and detail in all forms of work.
• Ability to be flexible within the working day to accommodate ad-hoc requirements
