The Client
Our Client is a well respected Waste Management and Recycling Company who holds municipal and street cleansing contracts throughout the UK.

Roles and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be required to work closely with Operations Managers, Fleet Compliance Managers, Project Managers, Fleet Engineers, and the Safety, Health and Environmental Managers and Advisors throughout the business. The post will also work closely with third party subcontractors.

  • As Transport Manager you will provide:
  • Effective and Continuous Control of the business where vehicles are provided to service the business. This includes use of cars/vans by employees.
  • Legal compliance management for all vehicle fleet operations.
  • Corporate compliance management in line with policies, procedures and systems.
  • Resource management of employees and in sourced staff (to include driver’s hours and WTD requirements).
  • Effective controls to monitor and achieve financial targets including stock management.
  • Vehicle service and availability to meet tasking requirements.
  • Fully maintained and roadworthy vehicles to meet tasking requirements.
  • Suitably qualified and experienced Drivers to meet tasking and corporate requirements.
  • Safe and maintained equipment for employees to meet their tasking requirements.
  • A Safe workplace for employees to work.
  • Investigation and Reports on RTC incidents.
  • Advice and guidance to employees and others on internal vehicle fleet issues.
  • Adequate assurance of vehicle fleet management issues.
  • Ensure adherence to company targets with respect to Fleet audits.
  • Ensure vehicle defect procedure compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to all Operators Licence requirements.
  • Ensure overloading is minimised and any occurrences are investigated appropriately.
  • Manage vehicle hire process.
  • Analyse fuel data/usage, providing reports of excessive use and assist with driver training to correct behaviours.

Essential Experiences

  • Chartered professional or equivalent (or demonstrable IPD/CPD equivalent).
  • Recognised Fleet Vocational qualification such as Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or equivalent.
  • Five years’ experience in a similar transport, engineering, services, construction or other high risk industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of DVSA regulatory requirements regarding O Licences and Fleet management activities in general.
  • Good communication skills
  • Good ability in the use of standard Office software packages
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Holder of a full EU Driving Licence
