The Client

A leading European Waste Management and Recycling Company operating across the UK. 

 

Purpose and Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join our clients leading recycling and waste management company. The successful candidate will be working from home visiting clients and the office as and when needed. This position also requires extensive travel, sometimes at short notice. With the ever changing global demands that the industry are currently facing we are looking to recruit an outstanding individual to drive the business forward through new technologies, processes and innovation.

As part of this role you will be required to understand global markets and already have a vast knowledge of grades of material in plastic, paper and card – You will take this knowledge and be able to add value with technologies such as shredding and grinding to produce a new material

You will also be responsible for producing detailed reports across all countries and advise the UK Board of Directors of what opportunities you have identified and how the return on investment will profit the company.

 

Person Specification

You’ll also have:

  • Knowledge of the worldwide waste and recycling market
  • Excellent knowledge of grades of material and know their value against market conditions
  • Understand currency and how this affects the market
  • Have an excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Must have in depth knowledge of shredding, grinding and granulating raw material
  • Have vast experience in trading in plastics, paper and cardboard
  • Ability to research markets and analyse results in order to present to the Board of Directors
  • Be able to write detailed reports and findings
  • Be able to compile and present training sessions for workers who may not speak English as their first language
  • Have in depth knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance
  • Be able to travel at short notice for sometimes long periods of time
  • Ability to think on your feet to resolve issues
  • Commercially aware
  • Self-motivated with a can do attitude

 

Required experience:

  • Business to Business Field Sales: 2 years
  • Material trading: 2 years

Required licence or certification:

  • A full, clean UK Driving Licence
