Commercial Manager

Midlands, Permanent, £40-45K Dependant on experience + Bonus

The Role

 To source, review, create and deliver value adding, consultative sales proposals and achieve agreed objectives and targets

 To Increase the volume of hazardous waste going through our client’s transfer station

Build robust pipeline of potential new clients

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • To promote, audit and enforce the application of the client’s health, safety, environment and quality assurance policies
  • To maintain and grow the Sales Pipeline (New Business, Won & Rolling and Existing Business)
  • To identify disposal routes and negotiate low disposal costs for waste streams
  • To collate the required information to transport waste legally and safely.
  • To maintain customer relationships
  • To support other members of the commercial team
  • To regularly review pipeline progress, evaluate and review strategy and approach
  • To develop robust strategy to achieve agreed & measurable KPI’s relating to Pipeline development and new business acquisition
  • Research prospective accounts in targeted markets, pursue leads and follow through to a successful agreement
  • To follow the latest industry developments and stay up-to-date on corporate competitors
  • Manage and participate in targeted sales campaigns
  • Prepare and present reports as requested
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Actively engage in appropriate trade association forums and other networking events
  • To control and protect all company assets and intellectual property.


Essential Knowledge/Skills/Experience


  • Direct Sales experience in a B2B environment
  • Hazardous waste sales
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste legislation and supply chain
  • Managing a large number of customers
  • Negotiating experience
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Solid commercial knowledge and experience in the waste and recycling marketplace in the UK
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft excel, word and outlook
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Driving Licence
