Are you a Commercial Manager looking for an exciting next step in your career? Ace Recruitment has a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Manager with one of the Wales Leading Waste Management and Recycling Companies.

Purpose and Responsibilities as Commercial Manager

As Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the efficient and smooth running of the commercial department. Your job will involve ensuring targets are met by the team, developing the commercial department by way of sourcing new business and producing commercial development plans.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage all commercial operations in accordance with legal and Company requirements.
  • Increase turnover of the commercial department, meeting profitability targets.
  • To develop and implement a medium to long term business development strategy to further expand / develop a commercial material collection business.
  • Ensure all Commercial Department staff are up-to-date on all mandatory and specific training.
  • Manage sickness absence within the Department effectively and conduct Return to Work Interviews with all staff on their return.
  • Managing team performance and individual performance.
  • To lead on external tendering processes by preparing detailed technical submissions for Commercial / Local Authority tenders.
  • Support the Directors in negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Control the fleet of commercial vehicles, containers and associated staff.
  • To prepare and deliver regular reports / updates on performance.
  • To ensure that all movement of material (internally or externally) is carried out in the most cost effective and efficient manner by making use of effective route planning and maximising pay loads.

Commercial Manager Person Specification

  • Must be able to demonstrate a successful sales track record.
  • Working knowledge of the Waste and Recycling Services.
  • Must be familiar with the local market, identifying and taking advantage of commercial opportunities.
  • Have experience of organising collections/deliveries via route planning software.
  • Possessing strong organisational skills for planning activities and re-arranging quick response activities, working to deadlines and problem solving.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, motivating, supportive to build a team ethos and be able to deal with team/individual performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Waste Management/Environmental/Recycling Services Industry Experience: 2 years Minimum
  • Sales/Business Development/Account Management Experience: 3 years minimum
  • Full UK Driving Licence
