Our Client

A leading Waste and Recycling Services Supplier operating across the South West.

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading company and work across several sites in Devon. The roles primary focus is the Health and Safety and management of ISO 18001 including transition to 45001. You will share ownership of the Company’s ISO systems with the Compliance Manager. The privately owned Company is expanding and developing and you would be part of that growth. Key accountabilities

  • To produce and promote the Group Safety Strategy across our sites, providing advice and guidance where necessary
  • Keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in HS&E Legislation and Codes of Practice as well as identifying any training for staff in relation to Health and Safety policies, practice and procedures as well as proposing, implementing and monitoring measures necessary to comply with H,S&E Legislation and Codes of Practice
  • Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
  • Monitoring the implement policies and procedures to comply with legislation
  • Ensure that statutory requirements are being upheld throughout the organisation e.g. COSHH, RIDDOR, Display Screen Equipment, Risk Assessments etc.
  • Investigate or arrange for all accidents and near-misses be investigated, prepare report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.
  • Assist and support Departments in the preparation of risk assessments. Monitor the availability and appropriateness of risk assessments and, where necessary, safe working practices.

Person Specification

You’ll have:

  • Proven leadership and management experience
  • Internal auditing experience
  • Skills: ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and H&S legislation
  • Experience in Waste Legislation and dealing with governing bodies such as the HSE
  • Good organisational skills and proactive.
  • Enthusiastic and professional.
  • Excellent communication skills and a team player.
  • Superb IT Skills especially Excel Word and Powerpoint.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Health and Safety Experience in a Waste/Recycling Setting: 3 Years Minimum
  • NEBOSH: Essential
  • Full UK Driving License
