Purpose and Responsibilities

A fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking, enthusiastic and experienced business development professional to join our clients team and deliver core business development activity, represent our clients brand and driving technical excellence process improvement.

The Senior Business Development Manager is both a strategic and hands-on role that provides full cycle sales development to the Alternative Fuels division and Commercial Manager. As Senior Business Development Manager you will take a true partnership approach to your work consistently bridging individual, departmental needs with that of the broader company. This role requires candidates who have experience in long sales processes focusing on managing relationships as you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing clients as well as growing new customer relationships.

Key Tasks:

  • Lead client tenders and scoping documents, develop budget, strategy with related contracts.
  • Provide significant support to operations team during first 100 days of client engagement.
  • Participates in all business development activities (sales meeting, trade shows and conferences)
  • Manages all sales activities within the specified territory. Develops and maintains good business relationships with customers on different levels and strategic suppliers/partners to the company.
  • Develops, in collaboration with the CM-Alt Fuels, the overall commercial strategy of the sector in their territory, the projects, commercial/tendering strategy and the positioning of the company.
  • Actively follows-up on proposals in order to maximise the chances to conversion to customers
  • Works in collaboration with the other commercial departments of the company identifying and developing common opportunities, including with the Operations and Finance.
  • Updates CRM database (SalesForce), prepares sales forecasts, while keeping abreast of key projects and accounts.

You’ll also have:

  • Previous experience of SME culture, requiring a dynamic and adaptable nature

  • A flexible and collaborative team member
  • Customer facing experience is critical, accustomed to receiving unexpected demands and tasks with unscheduled or unspecific deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; chameleon like ability to adapt to varying audience
  • Disciplined self-awareness in all customer correspondence, written, verbal and face-to-face
  • Professional, personable approach
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CRM applications

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Business Development/Relationship Management/Commercial Management: 5 years Minimum
  • Waste Management/Resource Management/Recycling Industry Experience: 5 Years Minimum
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • European travel required with overnight stays – flexibility to travel is an essential requirement.
