Our Client

A Leading Waste and Resource Management Services Supplier operating throughout the South West.

Purpose and Responsibilities

Our client is looking for a Senior Operations Manager to support the Operations Director in the management of programmes, projects and assignments for the allocated service area. As Senior Operations Manager you will be responsible for monitoring the operation of service, ensuring compliance with all legislation, regulations, and financial and budgetary parameters. The role requires the post holder to challenge existing practices in order to improve overall customer service whilst seeking value for money and maximising profit.

Duties also include:

  • Ensure talent management across designated operations and ensure effective use of resources in achieving key performance targets.
  • Provide management support to team members to ensure that management procedures are robustly followed.
  • Undertake allocated projects as directed, which may include; due diligence, pricing analysis and the configuration, management and implementation of new services
  • Mentor nominated member(s) of the leadership team, providing developmental opportunities to support succession planning
  • Develop opportunities to improve the effectiveness of the site and service delivery.
  • Relationship building internally and externally (customers, suppliers, employees, local authorities), always ensuring that we deliver a great customer experience.
  • Ensure that all services are compliant with Health & Safety, current disposal/ handling/ transportation legislation and codes of practice and environmental regulations.
  • Preparation of annual budgets, ensuring that services are delivered within budget and all financial targets are met.
  • Work within cross-divisional teams to provide integrated waste solutions using best practice and through continuous improvement.

Person Specification

You’ll also have:

  • Experience of leading change management programmes
  • Experience in managing complex employee relations and working with trades unions
  • Proven experience in delivering services and achieving key results
  • Good knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation
  • Waste industry knowledge including relevant laws
  • Demonstrable IT skills (Excel, Outlook and Word)
  • Strong leadership skills and business acumen

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Waste Management, Recycling Sector Experience: 3 Years Minimum
  • Operations/Business/Depot Management Experience: 5 Years Minimum
  • IOSH: Essential – NEBOSH: Desirable
  • COTC Level 4: Essential
  • Driving Licence: Essential
  • CPC: Desirable
  • Supervisor or Management qualification: Desirable
