The Client

A leading specialist waste services company covering treatment, disposal and disposal.

Purpose and Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Chemist to join our client’s team in Ilkeston. In this position the successful candidate will cover the waste reception, residue analysis and process control and will require a hands-on person capable of working in a busy site laboratory, with some outdoor work in an industrial environment. Candidates will start off by completing a 3 month training programme making this position ideal for a graduate with approximately 1 years experience.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assisting Process Manager and Production Manager
  • The safe management of associated procedures relating to the efficient reception, inspection and routing of waste materials on site.
  • Implementation and development of process modelling and control.
  • Provision of technical support to the operation, including the running and development of existing and new processes.
  • Compliance with the company’s Environmental Permit and other regulatory consents.
  • Compliance with the company’s operating procedures.
  • Compliance with the company’s health and safety policy, site safety rules and environmental policy of all personnel.
  • Provision of supervision and training with regard to company procedures and work instructions.
  • Maintenance and development of paperwork and operational systems.
  • Liaison with other company departments.
  • Compliance with all relevant environmental and health and safety procedures
  • Development and maintenance of housekeeping procedures to ensure a clean and tidy site that fully meets compliance standards

Shifts & Remuneration

Basic salary £20,570 - £22,405 p.a. Dependant on experience

A shift allowance of £25 per shift is payable for the 14:00 to 24:00 shift, and £50 per shift is payable for the 22:00 to 08:00 shift 

OTE on night shift £32,570 p.a. - £34,405 p.a

Hours during Training (Approx 3 Months) 06:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday

Hours after Training22:00 – 07:00 Monday to Friday

Required experience:

  • Minimum HNC, but preferably a degree, in Chemistry (or a related subject)
  • Pragmatic, positive approach to work

Required licence or certification:

  • First Aid at Work
  • IOSH Working Safely – advantageous
  • Counterbalance FLT
