Our Client

A leading Waste and Recycling Services Supplier operating across the UK.

Role Purpose

As Supervisor you will ensure the safe and efficient delivery of services in a professional manner. You will supervise the process of work, equipment, materials, labour and resources from inception to completion in line with Contract requirements and KPI’s.

Key accountabilities

  • To supervise and co-ordinate programme works as part of the Refuse & Recycling regime on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • To ensure that all documentation is completed within specified deadlines.
  • To supervise the implementation of Contract requirements and the specification of all works.
  • To monitor and inspect the standards of work completed, dealing with any matters which arise promptly.
  • To identify, understand, implement and communicate key performance indicators and ensure that these are met.
  • To regularly report to line manager progress on works and any matters which may arise affecting service delivery.
  • Management of the Depot Environment, dealing with the organisation of waste streams, the transfer of waste to tips and keep and provide records and tonnage of waste in and out of the Depot transfer station.
  • To undertake Induction, supervision, management and leadership of employees ensuring that resources are available and utilised effectively.
  • To manage the performance, training and development requirements of employees.
  • To develop processes with employees, both individually and within teams to encourage open and honest communications.
  • Responsible for monitoring the daily inspection and reporting procedure for plant and vehicles
  • To ensure that all Health and Safety requirements are achieved, recorded correctly and monitored to ensure that a robust, suitable and sufficient safety regime is in place.

Person Specification

You’ll have:

  • Good understanding of the processing environment and the need to maintain equipment to the highest standards.
  • Good diagnostic and problem solving skills. Strong team leading skills with ability to work on own initiative as well as to lead, coach and motivate others.
  • Ability to work in busy environment whilst observing, following and encouraging others to comply with the highest H&S standards.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Computer literate with a basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
  • Flexible towards working hours to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
  • Qualified in First Aid at Work, or willing to work towards this qualification.
  • Ability to identify suitable training for individual team members and to give professional and regular tool box talks.
  • Ability to gather from others and offer suggestions and improvements for the department or organisation.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Supervisory Experience in a Waste/Recycling Setting: 3 Years Minimum
  • LGV License: Preferred
  • IOSH: Preferred
