The Client

A well respected, family owned Waste Management and Recycling Services Supplier.

Purpose and Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Administrative Chemist to join our clients office based in Oxfordshire. This role would be ideal for someone who has recently graduated with an A Level/Degree within Chemistry or a Chemist looking for an admin based role whilst still being able to use industry knowledge and experience.

As Technical Administrative Chemist you will be responsible for producing legal documentation for the hazardous waste collections department as well as ensuring the safe packing and disposal of hazardous waste.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assessment of all scheduled jobs to identify the chemical hazard’s to accurately raise Hazardous Waste Documentation to ensure compliant collection, transport and disposal of wastes.
  • Identification of packing requirements and segregation required for mixed hazard waste consignments and accurate imparting of this information to technical drivers.
  • Production of transport documentation and labels.
  • Preparation of compliant waste lists from information supplied from customers and sales representatives.
  • Timely preparation of documentation for other depots and departments.
  • Answering departmental telephone calls and assisting with professional advice/assistance where possible and transferring/messaging when not possible.
  • Assisting general operations within the administrative function of the department and covering these roles during periods of absence.
  • Ad-hoc projects relevant to the role and future development of the department.

 Person Specification

You’ll also have:

  • Understanding of chemical names and hazardous characteristics
  • Ability prioritise plan ahead and work to continuous deadlines
  • Flexible attitude and ability to multi task
  • Knowledge of the carriage of dangerous goods by road regulations with the ability to classify, pack and label hazardous wastes (Advantageous)
  • Professional Telephone Manner
  • IT Literate

Required experience:

  • Experience within a Chemistry/Environmentally focused role: 1 Year
  • Customer Service/Administration Experience: 1 Year

Required licence or certification:

  • A full, clean UK Driving Licence – essential
  • A Level/Degree in Chemistry or an Environmental Discipline
