The Client

A leading Waste Management and Recycling company Operating across the East Midlands.

Purpose and Responsibilities

The Transfer Station Manager will be fully responsible for the compliance and management of all aspects of waste processing across the site including safety, maintenance and legislative and regulatory requirements.
The Transfer Station Manager is required to ensure that QHSE standards are of the highest standards and that all site personnel are adequately trained and safe.

Duties Include:

• Manage the supervisors, charge hands, site operatives and the day-to-day operation of the site’s waste processing operations including the safe operation of all equipment, plant and processing assets.
• Ensure key operational KPI’s are delivered to illustrate optimum operational performance
• Ensure all maintenance programmes are in place and adhered to for all processing, static and mobile plant under the roles control.
• Ensure that processing and plant data is collected and recorded as required.
• Monitor staff and ensure they are in compliance with all procedures and company policies.
• Collate and manage all site performance data and produce KPI for management review
• Manage the waste logistics for outgoing streams, working closely with the internal bulk haulage department and external hauliers to ensure all waste and recycling streams are managed to the highest levels of efficiency and compliance with site permitted conditions
• Work to ensure compliance with all planning and permit activities on site and across 3 permitted areas
• Act as an ambassador for the business in terms of Health & Safety and compliance

Essential knowledge/experience

• Good working knowledge of the Waste Management and Recycling Sector
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build rapport and delegate as needed.
• IT Literate – including Microsoft Excel with macro’s and formula building
• Excellent communication skills written and oral
• Experience in managing bulk waste and waste processing with extraction
• Experience Managing a Transfer Station/Waste Recycling Site: 3 years

Required licence or certification:

COTC – Waste Treatment and Transfer – essential
IOSH/NEBOSH – advantageous
CPC - advantageous
A full, clean UK Driving Licence
